The surf spot known as "Jaws" is located several miles father
north of Hookipa, Maui. Getting there requires traversing a red dirt
road through maze of pineapple fields that eventually leads you toward
the ocean and your first view of Jaws. The land surrounding Jaws is
owned by the Maui Pineapple Company. So while the company has been kind
enough to grant public access to the cliff area above Jaws, it's possible
that on certain days access could be denied, due to pineapple harvesting
or for other reasons.

Those fortunate enough to see Jaws in person never will forget the experience.
This
recently pioneered big-wave spot also is known by its Hawaiian name,
Peahi (pay-ah-hee). Its nickname has two meanings; the huge waves look
like the set of jaws as they come crashing down, and it's said that
your jaws drops the first time you see such monster waves. On large
days, waves will reach anywhere from 30 to 50 feet----awesome!
